I got the reference off posemaniacs.com and free handed it. I wanted to see how close I actually was with my drawing compared to the original. I'm fairly close on size relationships, but my angles are off a bit still. Oh well - it just means more practice.
This is a digital painting based on a guache painting I did during the semester for my media class. It's part of a sequential piece that I'll post as I finish doing them in different mediums. I'm trying to decide which media I like best for the subject.
Another Media Experimentation painting. This one was done by painting in shadows on wood, covering the whole thing in packing tape, and painting on the light portions. Once that was done, I went back in and scratched off parts.
This is another painting for my media experimentation class. I wish I could have scanned the picture in, I think the colors would have looked better that way.
This is an oil painting I did for my media experimentation class. The colors are a lot better in the actual painting, but this was the best shot I could get with my little camera.
This is the sketch for a painting I'm working on. Figured it was time to post something new. The bear is from a picture I took a couple years ago at Bear World, and the rest I made up.
These are practice pieces I did in class for the oil lift out technique. I drew the image on a gessoed matte board and then painted a very thinned down layer of oil paint over the entire thing. Then, while the image was still wet, I lifted out the lights using straight paint thinner on my brush. There are obviously some issues with each of these pieces, but I like the overall effect. Once I get my final piece done, I'll post it on here.
These are practice pieces I did during class. I drew the image and inked it, and then made a reverse - photocopy of it. Then I used a Chartak blender to transfer the image onto some old matte board and painted it using really thin layers of acrylics.
This is a painting I did my freshman year at NAU. The assignment was to do a self-portrait, but I really wanted to paint a wolf. So I came up with all sorts of reasons why the wolf symbolized me, and then just told the teacher that I had really wanted to paint a wolf.
This is a photo manipulation I did of a picture I took at the nature park this summer. I have lived in Rexburg for 3 years now, and I just found out there was a nature park around here.
